A Celebration of Life and the Journey

My Sweet Mother-in-Love

With her children and various family member around her, we had the pleasure to journey beside my Mother-In-Love to the threshold of eternity…to the thin veil that separates us from the Great Crowd of Witnesses and be present as she shrugged off this body like it was a shawl that had become bothersome.

We are all walking beside other as they or we journey through this life. There are times of ease and times of difficulty and burden. Times when the wind is favorable and times we have become becalmed and must sail by “ash breeze”. I became aware of the term “sailing by ash breeze” while reading Carry On, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham. A Newberry Award winning book, this term refers to the ash wood oars used by sailors to row the ship forward when becalmed with no wind in the sail. What a wonderful word picture for some of the harder journey’s of this life.

If you find yourself “Sailing by Ash Breeze”… don’t be afraid to reach out and get more hands on the oars and remember… a fresh breeze IS Coming! It is always my honor to lend a helping hand!

Grace and Peace… Bryan
